About Me

Vision without execution is just hallucination! These words of Thomas Alva Edison ring true to what I believe in - talk is cheap, and one is truly valued by what they do. For me, it’s about doing what I promised my team and my investors: building quality, eco-friendly renewable energy projects. I head Soham Energy, which has conceptualized, constructed, and commissioned two hydroelectric power plants, and we are in the process of implementing five others.

We pride ourselves on building credibility by creating quality assets. To develop world-class projects, we associate with the best in the business, such as Tata's (engineering) and SBI (our lead bankers), to name a few. We also believe in transparency with our investors and have the company audited by two of the Big Four (KPMG & Ernst & Young). This approach has helped us raise finances from the world's leading investors. In 2011, we raised our latest round from a consortium that included Macquarie (one of the world's largest infra funds), SBI, and IFC Washington (part of the World Bank group). This will help us execute our current portfolio and make acquisitions that will take us among the top three in the Indian renewable space.

Finally, what is close to every employee at Soham is the fact that we touch the lives of close to 9000 rural school-going children daily through our programs at Soham Foundation.

I never give up. It is this determination that keeps me going as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Soham. My qualifications as an industrial engineer and my background as a serial entrepreneur, with previous ventures in energy conservation systems, e-validation services, and fostering IT education, also help. Being an alumnus of Harvard University and graduating from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, has given me a global perspective.

I love meeting new people, which is why I am a member of The Young Presidents Organisation (YPO) Bangalore Chapter and Entrepreneurs Organisation (EO), which I helped found over a decade ago and served as their President and Area Director of all India chapters. I now serve the YPO Bangalore Chapter Board as its Co-Education Chair and am on the India Alumni Advisory Board and the Global Alumni Council for The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University.

To me, being successful means being a good son, husband, father, brother, employer, friend, and citizen.
